A site-specific installation of three suspended 15-foot dyed barkcloth tapestries featuring Oregon and Hawaiʻi plants represented via Hawaiian quilt patterns hand-stitched to each panel. Located at Portland State University’s Vernier Science Center in Portland, OR. Commissioned by the Oregon Arts Commission. 2024.

E HOʻĀLA KA LUPE | TO AWAKEN THE KITE

Funded by a Native Arts and Cultures Foundation LIFT Grant, this project sought to recreate traditional Native Hawaiian barkcloth kites using only natural materials gathered by the artist. 2023.

Lupe Hōkū (Star Kite). Earth pigments, hibiscus cordage, bamboo, shell, kapa (barkcloth). 16.5 X 16.5 inches.

NO MĀKOU KE ĀNUENUE | A RAINBOW FOR US ALL

A partnership with Human Rights Campaign, the largest LGBTQ+ advocacy group in the US, to create a design to celebrate AANHPI (Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander) Heritage Month and Pride Month. This design began as a hand-painted piece on kapa (barkcloth) and was later made into a custom T-shirt. 2022.

No Mākou Ke Ānuenue. Earth pigments on hand-beaten kapa. 11 X 14 inches.
